From Hintersee to the Feichtenstein
Sunny hike in Salzburg with a fantastic view of the Hintersee in the Salzkammergut.
This hike in the Salzkammergut region requires little technique and no great physical fitness, but the fantastic scenery and the experience are what entice you.
Start at the car parking lot in front of the Hintersee municipal office. From here, follow the Joseph Mohr memorial trail to the Satzstein and then enter the Wald-Wasser-Zauberweg. After about 500 metres you will come to a junction where you follow a hiking trail in the direction of the Feichtensteinalm. After just under 700 metres, you reach the Untertiefenbachalm. Here the trail turns left into the forest. The trail climbs over a few hairpin bends. After the forest, there is another alpine pasture, and the trail leads past it on the left to the summit cross of the Feichtenstein. A fantastic view awaits the hikers here. The way back is the same as the way up. You can stop for refreshments at the Stegleitnhütte before finishing the tour at the starting point in front of the municipal office in Hintersee.
