A family business since 1790

A traditional family business and attentive hosts await you at the Hotel DAS Hintersee. We would like to take a look at the past and tell you a little about the development of our Gasthof and Hotel.

Our establishment has been run as a Gasthof (guesthouse) for 230 years and has been family-owned and operated since 1790. There have been great changes over the years: the building has been expanded and renovated, and occasionally old treasures have been discovered in the process – such as the family's current coat of arms. The history of the Hotel DAS Hintersee

1950 -

Addition of a second floor: the first rooms for rent are constructed.
The family coat of arms was discovered during these renovation works. A genealogist was employed to trace the ancestors of the Ebner family back to Augsburg, in Swabia.

1951 -

The first room is rented: Dortmund Coal Miners' Union.

1968 -

Addition of the dining hall + basement room + central heating throughout the building.

1973 -

Erika and Albert Senior take over the business.

1974 -

Restaurant is renovated.

1978 -

Haus Feichtenstein is built (formerly Haus Erika), with 11 more rooms and two bus garages.

1990 -

Albert Ebner Junior and his wife Petra (married in 1995) join the family business.

1996 -

Daughter Lisa Ebner is born + addition of a third floor and lift to the main building.

1998 -

Daughter Anna Ebner is born.

1999 -

Construction of Haus Satzstein (formerly Joseph Mohr Haus) with a doll's-house museum and two rooms.

2000 –

Installation of a passenger lift in Haus Feichtenstein (formerly Haus Erika).

2003 -

An annexe is added to the Sonnberg Stüberl dining room with seating for an additional 40 guests + construction of the wellness area and a third conference room.

2004 -

Construction of five new rooms above the Königsberg Stüberl dining room.

2006 -

Albert and Petra Ebner take over the hotel + conversion of the bus garage into Haus Feichtenstein with five rooms – the Feichtenstein Superior with garden terrace.

2008 -

Expansion of Haus Feichtenstein to create five extra rooms.

2011 -

The restaurant is expanded and a new bar constructed in the main building.

2014 -

Free access to the World Wide Web.

2019 -

Sophia Ebner is born – the fourth generation of the Ebner family.

2020 -

Renovation of Haus Feichtenstein.

2021 -

Hotel is renamed the DAS Hintersee
Redesign of the Sonnberg Superior double room
Breakfast area is redesigned + hall renovated
The new Sonnberg terrace
New reception area
In-house KTM eMTB hire service + bike shop
